Frequently asked questions
Get your sick note or medical certificate online with ease - created, reviewed, and signed by a GMC registered UK doctor.
Who issues the certificates?
Every certificate is reviewed and signed by a GMC registered UK doctor after an online text consultation. The doctor's name and GMC number appear on the certificate.
How long does it take to get a sick note online?
Priority requests are completed within 24 hours or your money back, and are often much faster. Standard requests are completed within 3 business days or your money back.
Is an online sick note valid for my employer or university?
Yes - a private medical certificate signed by a GMC registered doctor is accepted by most UK employers, universities, and insurers. Every certificate carries a unique reference number they can ask us to verify.
Do I need a sick note for the first 7 days off work?
Usually not. In the UK you can self-certify for the first 7 calendar days of illness. From day 8 your employer can ask for medical evidence, and some employers ask sooner under their own sick pay policies.
How much does a sick note cost?
£25 for Standard (within 3 business days) or £35 for Priority (within 24 hours). If the doctor can't issue your certificate, you receive an automatic full refund.
What if the doctor can't issue my certificate?
If our doctor decides a certificate isn't appropriate - for example because your condition needs an in-person review - you receive a full automatic refund and advice on where to seek care.
How far back can my certificate start?
Certificates start from today onwards and can cover a period of up to two weeks.
Is my information secure?
Yes. Your consultation, documents, and ID are stored encrypted in the UK/EU, are only visible to the doctor handling your case, and are never shared without your consent.
Can my employer verify the certificate?
Every certificate carries a unique reference number that we can verify - ask your employer to contact us with the reference.
