Will my insurer accept an online medical certificate?
Most insurers accept medical evidence signed by a GMC registered doctor. The certificate shows the doctor's name and GMC number and carries a unique reference the insurer can ask us to verify. Check your policy wording - a few insurers ask for records from your own GP practice as well.
What does the certificate confirm?
It confirms that a GMC registered doctor has reviewed your case, the condition you reported, and the dates you were affected. That is the evidence most cancellation and claims teams ask for.
How fast can I get it?
Priority requests are completed within 24 hours or your money back, and are often much faster. Standard requests are completed within 3 business days or your money back.
What if the doctor can't issue the certificate?
If the doctor decides a certificate isn't appropriate, you get an automatic full refund. You only pay for evidence a doctor is genuinely able to provide.
Can it cover an illness from a few weeks ago?
Certificates start from the day of your consultation onwards and can cover up to two weeks. For evidence about an earlier illness, your own GP practice holds your medical record and can provide a letter from it.
